Year 5 and 6 pupils from the Duke’s Middle School, in Alnwick, ended the year in adventurous fashion with a residential trip to Glendale.
Following weeks of SATs testing which resulted in the school’s best ever results, the staff decided to test their physical stamina in three action-packed days allowing the children to experience rock climbing, mountain biking and canoeing in the magnificent surroundings of the Glen Valley.
For many of the children it was their first taste of these activities but this certainly didn’t hold them back. Pupils approached the challenges with enthusiasm and, at times, complete fearlessness! It was wonderful to see so many of them supporting and encouraging their peers to conquer their fear. Children and teachers returned feeling exhausted but full of stories about their exhilarating weekend.
