Children at an independent school in north Northumberland celebrated their successes at their annual prize-giving this month.
Lalage Bosanquet, co-principal at Rock Hall School, began by recognising what a superb year the children have had and how proud everyone was of them.
The awards recognised individual talent, hard work and determination, although there had been several occasions during the year where teamwork won the day.
That teamwork included success on the sporting field - and pupils also participated in the North East Children’s Cancer Run in Gosforth Park.
And working together was displayed in other areas too, in concerts, countryside activities and in their play at Alnwick Playhouse, which was acknowledged by a rave review in the Gazette.
Academic results this year have been excellent; three children won scholarships to Dame Allan’s and Durham School, while in the SATs exams 83 per cent of the results were at Level 5 in maths and English.
Children were entered for a national maths challenge, with Hal Burke’s gold medal putting him into the top five per cent of the country for his age.
Music exams were passed on a wide variety of instruments and pupils achieved sports leadership awards.
Co-principal Avril Lomas said: “So it is with great pride and pleasure that the awards were presented to the children.
“They have worked hard and thrown themselves with determination and enthusiasm into everything they do.”
