Pupils at Alnwick’s high school have once again excelled as the GCSE results were revealed this morning.

Students of the Duchess’s Community High School gathered earlier to find out how they had fared and share the news with friends, family and staff.

In all, 266 teenagers completed their Key Stage 4 curriculum this year – at GCSE level, more than 75 per cent of the grades were at A* to C while more than a quarter were A* and A.

More than 30 students achieved seven or more A*/A grades and nine of these managed A*/A across the board.

Subjects that saw very good results included maths, French, art, food technology, textiles and physics.

There was also significant success in the wider curriculum offered at the school, which includes health and social care, childcare learning and development, public services and more.
