A driver has suffered minor injuries after a car hit a tree on the A697 in Northumberland.

The incident happened at 1.20pm, by Brickworks Cottages, Thrunton, and a spokesman from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said that the driver had been treated by paramedics at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said that one lane is blocked, but the road is still open.

The incident is close to where an overhanging tree was removed yesterday.
