Double-locked bike fails to stop thieves

POLICE are appealing for information after a motorbike was stolen in north Northumberland.

Between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Tuesday, May 3, thieves stole the red and white Yamaha R6 sports bike while it was parked near the entrance of a field area on the minor road between Allerdean and Ancroft.

The bike had an empty fuel tank and had been left there by the owner, secured by a disc lock and a steering lock, meaning that the thieves would have needed another vehicle to steal the bike.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious people or vehicles in the Allerdean and Ancroft areas of Berwick around the time of the theft is asked to contact police on 03456 043 043 ext 69191 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
