Diversions due for stretch of coast path

People planning to walk or cycle on the Northumberland coast between Warkworth and Alnmouth should be aware of upcoming route diversions.

The section of the Northumberland Coast Path and St Oswald’s Way between Buston Links and Alnmouth Road at Hipsburn will be closed to allow resurfacing of the path, which is part of National Cycle Route 1.

Cyclists will be directed on a diverted route using local roads inland. The diversion for walkers will use an alternative bridleway inland . Both will be in place from April 23 for up to two months. A map showing the diverted walk route can be downloaded at northum berlandcoastaonb.org or stoswaldsway.com, and is available at Amble, Warkworth and Craster TICs.

The diversions will be signposted and way-marked. The X18 bus runs between the villages for walkers wanting to avoid the diversion.
