Netherton WI, Meetings

In May Netherton WI held its annual business meeting, assisted by WI advisor Prudence Marks.

The outgoing committee were thanked and stood down.

Our able secretary Chrissie retired after 20-plus years of sterling work, with the thanks of all members.

So many people put forward their names that after a ballot a new committee was easily formed.

The Joan Green Cup was awarded to the most prolific competition winner of the year.

We have accepted an invitation to ‘twin’ with Prudhoe WI and look forward to some reciprocal get-togethers.

The June meeting was a relaxed evening of quizzes, dominoes and laughter, enjoyed by all, before a very varied and tasty supper.

The July meeting was replaced by the annual outing.

Four car-loads headed for Kielder on a calm, warm day.

Although the trip boat Osprey was not running, we had a lovely day by the shore and in Kielder Castle, before lunch at Leaplish Boat Inn, looking out at the lake.

We will be meeting again for an interesting guest speaker on Wednesday, September 3. Visitors are welcome.
