A NORTHUMBERLAND house builder behind some of the most luxurious developments in the region has landed a top national award.
Alnwick-based Stone Homes, which was set up in 2001 by husband and wife team Jo and Dale Robinson, received a silver award for the Best Small House Builder at the What House? Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane.
The prestigious awards are considered to be the Oscars of the UK house building industry.
Stone Homes won the accolade for its Hindley Farm development, near Stocksfield in the Tyne Valley, which provided exclusive family residences in a spectacular country setting.
The judging panel praised Stone Homes’ exceptionally high standards of design, build and customer service, as well as its impressive company charter that encourages staff to work as a team and help each other’s development.
It is not the first time that Stone Homes has triumphed at the event, as it won silver in the same category in 2009 and a bronze in 2008.
The latest accolade is the perfect boost ahead of what is set to be the biggest year in the company’s history as work has started on three projects in Northumberland.
Managing director Dale Robinson said: “This is going to be a busy year for us with more sites underway than ever before, so winning this award helps underpin the quality of each and every one of our special homes. The award is a quality standard which lets people know what we stand for and what kind of homes we build.”
Jo said: “It is a great accolade for the whole team which is made up of highly-qualified craftsmen who go the extra mile to do the job properly.
“We took three of our customers to the awards ceremony and they all went home bursting with pride for their award-winning home and full of admiration for our company and the principles we stand for.”
The company builds its distinctive luxury properties using the highest quality new and reclaimed materials.
Its latest projects are at Rennington, Bywell and Stamfordham.
Dale said: “We have been very fortunate to acquire three fabulous sites set in picture postcard Northumbrian locations. It has taken two years to land these sites because fantastic places are fantastically hard to find.”
“Quite often with our developments we have committed interest from discerning customers looking for something uniquely special to call home before a stone has been turned. When you have the perfect property set in the perfect location, people will always aspire to live there.”
Stone Homes’ new studio at Cawledge Business Park in Alnwick showcases their house building and interior design skills and is due to be completed at the end of March.
