An illustrated history of the badges and insignia of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers has recently been published in a new and improved edition.
The Fifth Fusiliers and its Badges, by Denis Wood, was first published in 1988, but it has been revised and expanded for the new edition.
It covers all of the Fusiliers’ units – regular, militia, volunteer/territorial and wartime, including the Tyneside Scottish and Irish.
The book records the origins, titles and honours of the regiment and its components from 1674 onwards with details of their formation and demise.
They are followed by descriptions and illustrations of the regiment’s badges and insignia.
The 226-page A4 hardback, with dust cover, contains 565 illustrations, mainly in colour, and costs £95 including UK postage and packing.
It is available from Denis Wood, 37 Canonbury Square, London, N1 2AN.
