A village centre is opening its doors for older people to experience its day care facilities.

Bell View in Belford is holding an open day next month to show the support that is available for older folk across north Northumberland.

Visitors to the purpose-built day care centre will be able to discover how a warm, stimulating and friendly environment can stave off the winter blues.

The open day is being held on Tuesday, March 10, from 10.30am to 3pm and will include a range of activities, morning coffee, a buffet lunch and afternoon tea.

Day care centre manager Val Kelly said: “We want people to be able to come and trial the day care facilities we have here at Bell Biew.

“The idea is to have a long-term sustainable environment for older people in the community to use on a daily and weekly basis.

“We know it can sometimes feel like a big challenge to make the initial commitment so we wanted to give people the opportunity to experience a snap shot.”

For every new person who comes to the centre, Bell View carries out an individual assessment so that they can tailor their service to each person’s individual needs.

People attending the centre receive freshly-cooked, hot home-made meals. Activities include indoor bowls, bingo and day trips.

Anyone wishing to attend is asked to register their interest with Val on 01668 219221. Free transport is available if it is reserved in advance and carers are also welcome to attend.
