Dads can put their feet up

DADS can escape the Christmas shopping at their own crèche.

While mum is busy stocking up for the festive season at Belsay Hall’s annual Christmas gift fair on Saturday and Sunday, English Heritage has planned a special treat for dads and children to escape the crowds.

The Middleton Room at Belsay will be transformed into a chill-out area filled with activities and games – somewhere both adults and children can take refuge from the shopping and play.

With magazines and newspapers, football games, colouring in, DVDs, bean bags, comfy sofas and plenty of mince pies and sweets to munch on, there will be plenty to keep boredom at bay.

The annual gift fair will give visitors a chance to find that one-of-a-kind Christmas gift.

Local crafts people will be exhibiting their trades and there will be liqueur and food tastings on offer.

Caroline Sinclair, from English Heritage said: “We all know that a man loves to shop as much as any woman, yet the hustle and bustle of crowds can sometimes get too much, especially with small children in tow.

“English Heritage has created a special haven to help enhance the experience of Belsay’s fabulous Festive Gift Fair for all the family.

“The dads’ crèche means people can take some time out with a selection of their favourite things, yet at the same time enjoy all that stunning Belsay has to offer.”
