Cyclist dies in Northumberland

A 75-year-old cyclist has died after an incident in Northumberland.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said that the victim – whose identity has not yet been released – had come off his bike on The Causeway, near to the A697 Glanton junction, just before lunchtime on Wednesday.

The spokeswoman added that he was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is being treated as unexplained. There is not believed to be any third-party involvement.

A report has been prepared for the coroner.
