Scrap theft fails

POLICE are appealing for information after a failed attempt to steal a vehicle and a trailer full of scrap metal from a site in Wooler.

Just after 11pm on Friday, January 27, police received a report of intruders breaking into the Glendale Engineering site.

Officers attended the scene and found that thieves had attempted to steal a trailer full of scrap metal from inside the yard.

Police believe the thieves must have been disturbed as they fled the site empty-handed leaving a vehicle at the scene.

The vehicle, a DAF articulated lorry, was found to have been stolen from the Lincoln area and was displaying false plates stolen from Humberside.

Anyone with any information into the break-in is asked to contact police on 101, ext 69191.
