Round-up from the courtrooms

The following north Northumberland residents have appeared before magistrates.

On Tuesday, June 17, John Lee Martin, 38, of Eastfield farm Cottages, Warkworth, was bailed after pleading not guilty to three counts of assault, one of threatening violence and another of criminal damage.

The alleged events happened between June 11 and 14 in Ellington. Martin is on conditional bail and will next appear at Bedlington on September 1. On Thursday, June 19 Jordan Wilkinson, 19, of Straffen Court, Amble, was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months after pleading guilty to stealing a bicycle worth £450. He also pleaded guilty to criminal damage and was handed an eight-week sentence, suspended for 12 months, to run concurrently with the previous.

On Friday, June 20 a 16-year-old Amble boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons was found guilty of handling stolen goods. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £10 victim surcharge.

On the same date, Kevin Flint, 19, of Dansfield Square, Amble, was fined £35 for the theft of a can of Lucozade and an all-day breakfast sandwich from Tesco. He must also pay £40 costs and charges.
