POLICE are appealing for information after metal thieves targeted a funeral directors’ in Amble.
Between 6pm on Monday, August 15, and 9am on Tuesday, August 16, thieves stole a brass plaque from outside the funeral directors’ building in Bede Street.
At the same time, Amble Allotments Association building in Percy Drive was broken into. A number of metal fittings including a boiler, clocks and taps were stolen.
Alnwick Neighbourhood Inspector Sue Peart said: “Officers will be checking local scrap yards for these items and if we can trace who has stolen them and sold them on, arrests will be made.
“That someone has stooped so low as to steal the metal plaque from a funeral directors’ is appalling and I’d urge anyone who knows who has done this to pass their information on.
“There is no place in our communities for individuals like this.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 03456 043 043 ext. 69191.
