TWO men accused of helping Raoul Moat have pleaded not guilty to a series of charges including the attempted murder of PC David Rathband.

Karl Ness, 26, and Qhuram Awan, 23, entered their pleas at Newcastle Crown Court.

Ness, of Dudley, North Tyneside, denied a charge of murdering Chris Brown, attempting to murder PC Rathband, two charges of conspiracy to murder, one charge of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and one of robbing a fish shop.

Awan, from Blyth, denied the attempted murder of PC Rathband, one charge of conspiracy to murder, one charge of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and one of robbing a fish shop.

The pair have been remanded in custody and are due to face trial later this month.
