TWO Powburn men have appeared in court following an attack on a bar owner.
Paul James Drummond, 29, of Brandon Farm Cottages, and Stephen Anthony Hunter, 39, of Reaveley Farm House, entered no pleas to charges of affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the owner of the Penny Black in Alnwick, John Hope. Drummond is also charged with common assault on Chavez Lui Pattinson, a doorman.
Berwick Magistrates Court heard how the pair are accused of punching, kicking and stamping on the head of Mr Hope while dragging him down the street after he asked them to leave his bar last November.
The magistrates refused jurisdiction so the case will be dealt with at crown court.
Drummond and Hunter will be back before Berwick magistrates on Thursday, May 26 for committal to crown court. Both men are on unconditional bail.
