Airgun case to go to crown court

A BELFORD man has pleaded not guilty to acquiring or purchasing a firearm without a certificate.

David John Angus, of Chesterhill Cottages, is accused of attempting to possess an air rifle, which due to its power is a firearm, without a certificate between Sunday, May 1, and Monday, July 11.

The 44-year-old entered the not guilty plea at Berwick Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 3.

Angus elected to be tried at crown court.

The case was adjourned until Thursday, January 12, for committal to Newcastle Crown Court.

Angus is on unconditional bail.
