A cribbage enthusiast who is playing his way around the country is looking for an opponent in Northumberland.

Siv Sears is on a mission to play the game in each of the 39 historical counties of England by his 39th birthday in June.

So far, he has played in 30 across the south and Midlands, taking in games at pubs, clubs, a barge and a prison.

At Easter, he will be heading north to play the other historic counties, including Northumberland, and is looking for an opponent, ideally with a story to tell about themselves, the board or the location. Contact ben.oconnell@jpress.co.uk or 01665 602234.

This project is part of an overall mission with the aim of promoting the game of cribbage in the UK and investigating and recording the state of the game in the nation at this time, through the writing of a book.

Siv added: “This year-long journey aspect is also helping me to reconnect with my homeland after years abroad and allow my girlfriend, as a recent arrival here, the chance to see snapshots of the whole country.”
