The March meeting of Craster WI was held in the Memorial Hall, Craster, and began by singing Jerusalem.

The secretary Marion Gallon discussed the garden party at Buckingham Palace. Anyone wishing to go will pay their own expenses, travel, etc.

On Saturday, April 12, the spring general meeting will be held. An auctioned tea will take place in the Memorial Hall, Craster, at 4pm. A maximum of 15 people will be given afternoon tea provided by Craster WI.

Our educational outing will be to the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle. It was decided on the return journey to stop at the Northumberland Arms, Felton, for a meal.

Treasurer Helen Chamberlain described our responsibility to label food provided by WIs which may contain food allergies. The contents of sandwiches, etc, should show contents such as butter, wheat or meat.

Norham WI have invited all groups to take part in a walk on May 9.

To celebrate the centenary of the WI generally, our secretary Marion Gallon suggested that our branch, plus any visitors, sing Jerusalem at the harbour, followed by afternoon tea, sometime in September. The idea was warmly welcomed by the meeting.

President Doris Clarke is to organise a domino drive in April.

As our speaker was unable to attend, Doris suggest a beetle drive and card bingo. Fiona Craster won the beetle prize. We then played card bingo, followed by supper.

The letter for the competition was F. Results were 1 Sylvia Biott; 2 Fiona Craster; 3 Shirley Tucker.

The raffle was won by Fiona Craster, who had a very good night.

Our next meeting is on April 2, when Jane Coltman will demonstrate her skill as a photographer.
