PUPILS at a north Northumberland school received a different view of the world this week as they welcomed a gold medal-winning gymnast.
Craig Heap, who captained England to team Commonwealth Games gold medals in 1998 and 2002, visited Seahouses Middle School on Tuesday to talk to the Year 8 sports leaders.
Part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport project, he ran an assembly for Year 5, 6 and 7 pupils several weeks ago before returning to work with the Year 8s on leadership skills and team-building.
Headteacher Julie Harris said: “The whole place was buzzing after his visit, not only the children he worked with but the others he had lunch with as well.
“He was a really popular character and I hope his visit has lifted aspirations.”
