Drainage and access problems should be a thing of the past for an annual show after the event moved to a new home.

This year’s Simonside Country Fair will be staged on a field just across the burn, adjacent to the The Gate public house.

The new field is level, drains well and offers safer access off the main road – plus several acres’ more space are available for activities and parking.

A packed programme, including several new activities, is lined up for the Sunday, August 11, fair.

Events on the bill include car boot sale, open-mic session, vintage tractor and vehicle parade, dog agility and bird-of-prey displays, fell run, industrial tent, Cumberland wrestling, terrier racing and more.

There will also be prizes and trophies to be won at the annual sheep show.

Admission is by donation and some of the proceeds go to charities and good causes, mostly in the Coquetdale area.

There are still a few places for local traders and exhibitors. Volunteer stewards are also welcome. Email secretary Carole at secretary@simonsi defair.co.uk
