Organisers of a country show, which was cancelled last year after heavy rain, say they are ‘optimistic’ that the event will go ahead as planned this time round.
The Simonside Country Fair is scheduled for Sunday, August 12, at the Forestburngate showground, south of Rothbury.
Recent wet weather looked as though it would have a devastating impact for the second year running, but improving conditions have seen the area drying out nicely.
Chairman Robert Famelton said: “It’s looking better than we expected and we should be able to get people and vehicles on and off the site safely.
“We are optimistic that everything will be able to go ahead as planned. We have a great programme and proceeds will benefit lots of local good causes.”
Organisers are monitoring the situation daily and have urged showgoers to follow the current status on the event’s Twitter – @FairSimonside – and Facebook pages, as well as at www.simonsidefair.co.uk
