Two businesses from a north Northumberland village couldn’t repeat 2014’s golden glory, but still saw success at the country’s top tourism awards last night.

In last year’s Visit England Awards for Excellence, Seafield Caravan Park (Holiday Park/Village of the Year) and St Cuthbert’s House bed and breakfast (Guest Accommodation) both returned from Cheltenham having won gold as the best in their categories from across the country.

At last night’s prestigious ceremony, held at The Sage Gateshead, Seafield earned a bronze, while St Cuthbert’s House, competing in the Sustainable Tourism category, won silver.

Elsewhere in Northumberland, Matfen Hall won gold as the best large hotel of the year, while Kielder Winter Wonderland won silver in the Tourism Event category.
