Local ward member, Coun Steven Bridgett, has contributed the funding from his local improvement schemes budget to purchase 20 Chromebooks to use for a Code Club at the school.

Flora Cann, assistant headteacher, said: “We are delighted to receive these Chromebooks. They will revolutionise the way we teach the new computing curriculum and will allow us to set our children up for their life in the digital age.

“I know the children are already excited to take part in the Code Club and we are looking forward to running many successful Code Clubs in school.” Code Club is a nationwide charity which encourages children aged between nine and 11 to start learning the basics of computer coding. It is in addition to the normal school curriculum and is run by volunteers.

The scheme provides easy to follow step-by-step guides which help children learn Scratch, HTML & CSS and Python by making games, animations and websites.
