Complaint thrown out

A COMPLAINT about the noise levels at a centre for Girl Guides in a north Northumberland village has been thrown out.

The Cheviot View site in Kirknewton was purchased by Girl Guiding North Tyneside after Kirknewton C of E First School closed in the summer of 2003.

The centre was officially opened by Chief Guide Liz Burnley in 2007.

Plans submitted to the National Park Authority in 2008 to transform the school field into a campsite were initially withdrawn after residents raised concerns over noise and disruption.

The plans were then resubmitted after discussions with residents and subsequently approved.

Since then complaints about noise were made to the county council, who have now finished investigating the issue.

A spokeswoman for Northumberland County Council said: “Our environmental officers undertook an investigation of the noise complaint and found that there was no further action necessary. The case is now closed.”
