Little Holly Watson was just one beneficiary of the generosity of the organisers of a north Northumberland country show.

At a special presentation at The Gate pub in Forestburn Gate last month, Robert Famelton handed out grants to 12 groups on behalf of the committee of Simonside Country Fair and Hay Show.

Around £3,000 was distributed in total to the following organisations: Rothbury Christmas lights (£250); Rothbury detachment of Northumbria Army Cadet Force (£250); 2nd Rothbury Scouts (£250); Upper Coquetdale Community Transport (£200); Spaniel Rescue (£50); Rothbury Ceilidh Band (£320); Simonside Shoot (£250); St Oswald’s Hospice (£200); Holly Watson’s hippotherapy sessions (£270); Rothbury Highland Pipe Band (£200); Bright Northumbria at Alnwick oncology unit (£350); Dr Thomlinson’s Middle School art project (£400).
