A newly-refurbished cafe has opened in Hadston.

Affordable healthy food for all of the community is on the menu at the Hadston House-based facility.

And after opening its doors last Thursday, the transformed cafe, which has been supported by UK Coal, is already hitting the spot with locals.

Project leader Scott Dickinson, who is also chairman of East Chevington Parish Council, said: “It has been very busy since we opened and I hope it will continue to be successful.

“A lot of community members are taking advantage of it and love the kind of food that is on the menu.”

The cafe is offering a range of tasty treats to tickle the taste buds, from snacks and light bites to full traditional meals.

Currently open Mondays to Saturdays from 8am to 2pm, the facility is also providing a breakfast club for youngsters from Amble’s James Calvert Spence College.

Scott added: “It has been a team effort, refurbishing and opening within four days, and I would like to thank my team for working hard and going the extra mile, and also all the workmen who put in so much effort.

“Our new cafe lead, Paul Chirnside, is very enthusiastic and dedicated.

“I would also like to thank the community for their patience and continued support by using our centre.”
