It is not often you are offered a bacon sandwich after casting your vote. Still less common to have it cooked and served in a church.
But this is what the people in the area of Whittingham, Edlingham and Bolton can look forward to on polling day.
Everyone, whether pollsters or not, is being invited to The Chantry @ St Bart’s café, which will open today from 9am to 1pm, and thereafter every Tuesday and Thursday in the church adjacent to the polling station in Whittingham.
Vicar Rev Jane Scott said: “The Parochial Church Council has been looking at ways to improve the social network in the Vale and ease the difficulties caused by isolation and lack of good transport connections and now we look forward to welcoming visitors.”
