Causeway idiocy

IT never ceases to amaze me to hear of the many drivers who find themselves being dependent on local rescue on the Holy Island causeway.

Are these people illiterate, and are they aware of the cost of their stupidity.

This recent rescue was a family with a one-year-old passenger so it has to be said we are dealing with extreme crassness here.

We all realize how easy it is to make a silly mistake on a one-off basis, but this causeway is so well documented in tide tables, and to ignore the tide table with disregard for safety where rescue has to be done, it seems to me a fine suitable to the rescue cost is feasible to these adventurers.

We do need air ambulance greatly, as we need most forms of rescue and the sea is so often involved in rescue.

Charity is involved in the upkeep of these rescuers and we do need them and not least for people who ignore a tide table and a 1,000 fine to save life seems to me very feasible and may deter a would-be adventurer on foot, or a very careless parent and family.
