People planning to walk or cycle on the Northumberland coast between Warkworth and Alnmouth in the next two months should be aware of route diversions.
The section of the Northumberland Coast Path and St Oswald’s Way between Buston Links and Alnmouth Road at Hipsburn will be closed to allow resurfacing of the path, which is also part of National Cycle Route 1.
Cyclists will be directed on a diverted route using local roads inland. The diversion for walkers will use an alternative bridleway inland and both will be in place from April 23 for a period of up to two months.
A map showing the diverted walk route can be downloaded at www.northumberlandcoastaonb.org or www.stoswaldsway.com. It will also be made available to accommodation providers and at Amble, Warkworth and Craster tourist information centres.
The diversions will also be signposted at either end and way-marked throughout the routes.
Walkers are advised to allow an additional 40 to 60 minutes to walk the section. If they wish to avoid the diversion there are regular buses between Alnmouth and Warkworth on the Arriva X18 service. The service calls at High Buston Road Ends.
Walkers who have queries should contact the Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership on 01670 622306 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and cyclists Northumberland County Council on 0845 600 6400 or email@example.com
