TRADERS and children have helped turn a corner of Alnwick into a scene straight from the Bible in time for the Christmas season.
Alnwick Chamber of Trade (Act) built a Nativity scene in a special enclosure in what was formerly the fish market, under the Northumberland Hall, complete with Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus.
And pupils from St Michael’s, St Paul’s and Alnwick South first schools added the three kings to the festive feature, which will be the venue for music and carols from 1pm this Saturday.
Act chairman Carlo Biagioni said: “We would like to thank all the people who have taken part in the building of the Nativity, especially Karl Dunn and Keith Wetheritt for their joinery work.
“They have spent hours on the project free of charge.
“The schools have done a great job on the three kings, while St Paul’s Church has loaned Mary, Joseph and the shepherd.
“We hope parents with young children will make an effort to bring them along, as we are also hoping to hand out little gifts to the youngsters.”
