Alnwick’s annual Civic Christmas Carol Service will take place on Wednesday at St Michael’s Church.
Organised by Alnwick Town Council, the carol service is held in support of a local charity chosen by the Mayor of Alnwick.
This year’s charity is the Stephen Carey Fund – the 2014 Jam Jar Army beneficiary, which aims to improve the awareness of emergency first-aid skills in addition to improving the provision of life-saving equipment, including installing public-access defibrillators across Northumberland.
Mayor Bill Grisdale said: “The carol service is one of the highlights of the civic calendar.
“With a mix of traditional carols and readings, not to forget the Christmas tree, it’s a great family night out and I’m sure everyone will leave with a real feeling of Christmas.
“I’m also pleased to have local choirs taking part in the service this year: Bailiffgate Singers, the Duchess’s Community High School Choir and Swansfield Park First School choir.”
Everyone is welcome at the 7pm service, which will be followed by refreshments in the church.
