The first Northumberland Beer Festival has been deemed a huge success after more than £1,500 was raised for charity.
Held by Coquetdale Round Table in Longframlington, the event took place on Saturday with a special family day until 6pm, which included face painting and children’s activities, followed by live music in the evening.
More than 250 people turned out for the event, in aid of HospiceCare North Northumberland, on Saturday while Friday night’s sponsor night also saw a packed memorial hall.
In total, 12 beers were on offer with four ciders as well as wine, Pimms and prosecco and free soft drinks for children and drivers.
Tabler and organiser Andrew Findlay said: “We were delighted with the turnout over both days and with the feedback that we have have had.
“Thanks to everyone who came. We have already had so many offers of help and support from brewers and sponsors that we have fixed the date for next year as midsummer weekend 2014.
“There will be even more things for kids to do during the day and an expanded range of beer and cider.”
So far £1,500 has been raised, but a final total has yet to be confirmed.
As the date has already been set for next year, the Round Table is hoping the hospice will continue to be the event’s beneficiary.
