Chance to dine with top chef

A UNIQUE event giving people the chance to dine with a world-class chef will kick-off this year’s Alnwick Food Festival.

Dine in with Novelli will see around 100 guests eating a sumptuous three- course meal designed by Jean-Christophe Novelli, using local produce which will be available at the festival.

Taking place in the Northumberland Hall, on Friday, September 23, the night, sponsored by Northumbria Water, is set to be a sell-out.

Jean-Christophe Novelli has chosen the ingredients with which he wants to cook based on the stall holders that will be in the Market Place during the festival weekend – Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25.

And while Jean-Christophe will be cooking for one lucky couple at the top table (see competition right), Miller’s Catering, the company set up by Hell’s Kitchen 2005 winner Terry Miller, will be creating the same delicious menu, using the same ingredients for the rest of the guests.

Karen Larkin, Alnwick Food Festival director, said: “I wanted to do something totally different and exclusive to give Jean-Christophe Novelli a chance to demonstrate his world-class talent using local produce.

“I will make available to every single person who visits the food festival the recipe cards for the three-course meal which Jean-Christophe will be making.

“People will also be able to ask questions of Jean-Christophe on the night because it is in an intimate location. There will also be opportunities for guests to have their pictures taken with him.”

Turnbull’s of Alnwick butchers are sponsoring the main course, while the Boutique Wine Company in Alnwick is making sure wine is matched to the food.

Tickets cost £50 per person to include the three-course meal and two bottles of wine per table. They can be bought by contacting Karen Larkin on 07846 542929 or emailing karen@alnwickfoodfestival.co.uk
