At a busy Alnwick Food Festival over the weekend, a little star power from chef Jean-Christophe Novelli helped bring in more than £500 for the Jam Jar Army.

Jam jars collecting change were on most of the 50-plus producers’ stalls and TV celebrity Jean-Christophe was happy to get behind our campaign supporting a local cause – Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre.

Anyone who wanted a photo taken with him was asked to make a donation to the Army.

And in total, the Food Festival weekend brought in £528.33, taking the total past the £9,000 mark to £9,392.19.

Get in touch – on 01665 602234 or ben.oconnell@northeast-press.co.uk – if you want to get involved or have any ideas for fund-raising. Full jars can be dropped off at the Playhouse or the Gazette office on Bondgate Without, or the Lions bookshop on Bondgate Within.
