Abbeyfield Care Alnwick – one of this year’s Jam Jar Army beneficiaries – is hosting a double celebration to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday and the 60th anniversary of Abbeyfield.
There will be a street party for the residents and their families on Sunday followed by a church celebration in the home on the Monday with a selection of favourite hymns and tea and cake to follow. All welcome.
On Friday, June 17, the house will be open between 10am and noon and from 2pm to 4pm as part of the National Care Open Day Scheme.
The scheme is about connecting people and enriching the lives of the UK’s care home residents by reminding people that care homes in every community are filled with unique, intelligent and charming characters, and run by special people that really do care.
Abbeyfield has been open in Alnwick for more than 30 years and looks forward to welcoming members of the public to the house to experience the home-from-home atmosphere of which it is very proud. For more details, contact Abbeyfield Care Alnwick on 01665 604876.
For the first time since its launch in 2011, a tie in the public vote meant that there are two beneficiaries of the Jam Jar Army campaign – Abbeyfield and Northumbrian Hedgehog Rescue Trust.
Full jam jars can be handed into the Gazette office.
