The winners of a garden competition in a north Northumberland parish were presented with their prizes earlier this week.

The presentation for the annual East Chevington Parish Council contest took place on Monday night. Not all of the winners were able to attend, but the full list of winners is as follows:

Flower garden: 1 Mrs L Kull, 8 The Pines; 2 Mrs T Morse, 1 Lake View and Mrs J Percival, 11 The Pines.

Shops/public buildings: 1 Hadston Youth and Community Centre, Bondicar Road; 2 The Trap Inn, North Broomhill.

Small flower garden: 1 Mr G Lowery, 12a Woodside Crescent; 2 Mrs D Stephenson, 36 Simonside Crescent.

Patio/ornamental garden: 1 Mr and Mrs Ryalls, 67 Chevington Green; 2 Mrs A Thurgood, 14 The Dunes.

Schools: 1 Broomhill First School; 2 Red Row First School.

Adopt a spot: 1 Residents, 72, 76, 78 and 80 Ladyburn Way.

Hanging baskets: Heatherdale Care Home, South Broomhill.

Kay Morris Trophy for best newcomer: Ladyburn House, Hadston.

Peter Basnett Trophy for outstanding feature: 1 Mrs J Percival, 11 The Pines.
