A 22-year-old man from the Whitton and Tosson parish has been cautioned after a Northumberland heritage site was damaged with graffiti.

The names ‘DONZ MIK JAZ’ were etched into an archeologically-important rock at Lordenshaw, near Rothbury, at the beginning of April.

The rock is famous for its cup-and-ring marks, which are form of prehistoric art.

* A 27-year-old from the same parish was also spoken to by police after an incident of eggs being thrown at cars on Front Street in the village.
