Police are calling for information after two cats were shot in a Northumberland village.

Northumbria Police said: “Between noon and 10:30pm on Monday, May 4, two cats were shot by someone with an air rifle.

“Officers believe it may have happened somewhere in the Trinity Grove area” of Seghill.

“One of the cats died as a result of it’s injuries, the other required veterinary treatment.

“The owner of the cats was left extremely upset by the incidents and officers are carrying out inquiries to identify who is responsible.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 24 05/05/15.”
