A regional employer is continuing its long-term support for the Northumberland Business Awards.

Property and energy firm The Banks Group, has been a category supporter at the annual event since 2012, but as well as supporting the Corporate Social Responsibility category at this year’s Awards, it has also signed up as a core supporter for the whole event.

Founded in 1976, The Banks Group is a family-owned business which is active across northern England and Scotland, and operates under a long-standing ‘Development with Care’ ethos, which ensures it works in a responsible manner with consideration for the environment, local communities, and its customers, employees and suppliers.

Mark Dowdall, environment and community director, said: “As a major local employer with a proud record of operating successfully in Northumberland for more than three decades, The Banks Group is extremely pleased to be continuing our support of these awards, which gives businesses right across the county the chance to receive due recognition for their many achievements and successes.”

The Northumberland Business Awards’ Corporate Social Responsibility category aims to recognise a business that can demonstrate how their efforts and corporate responsibility goes beyond what may be required by regulators or environmental protection groups in relation to their effects on the environment and impact on social welfare.

Mark added: “Our support for this award fits very well with our own ‘development with care’ approach, which puts responsible business practices and the wider environment at the centre of everything we do.

“Commercially-successful businesses can also be socially responsible without one area compromising the other, and there are certain to be many example of Northumberland businesses that are leading the way in their approach to both sides of this coin.”
