An Easter raffle at Rothbury Co-op has resulted in more than £600 being raised for the playground fund. The money is going towards the much-needed new playpark in the village.

Parish councillors Helen Walklett and Steven Bridgett were presented with the cheque by shop staff Kevin Burdis, Mark Wilkinson, Viv Mason and Lynne Mitchell.

Coun Bridgett said: “The new play park is a huge project for Rothbury Parish Council and we are at the stage now where we will be approaching external funders for help.

“A huge thanks must go to Kevin Burdis and all of the staff at the Rothbury Co-op for arranging this and residents and customers for supporting it.”
