One of the original calendar girls will be hosting a event in aid of HospiceCare North Northumberland tomorrow.
Angela Baker, who inspired the fund-raising phenomenon of the Calendar Girls, will be joining afternoon tea with the charity at St James’ Church Centre on Pottergate, Alnwick.
Angela’s husband John died from non-Hodgkins lymphoma at the age of 54 in 1998.
Before he passed away, Angela had mooted the idea of a naked calendar with the WI and her husband didn’t think she would do it.
But after he died, a WI member knocked on her door and the calendar was started.
Little did they know that their story would be all over the news and a $20million film, and a stage show, would be made on the back of it.
The event takes place from 1.30pm to 4.15pm with tickets priced at £12.50 each.
It also take place during Hospice Care Week which has been running since Monday.
