A pilot scheme to encourage the start-up of more local businesses has been launched at Wooler’s Cheviot Centre, after Glendale Gateway Trust received £199,000 of public sector funding to build new offices and a training room.

Following the launch, Paul Woolston, chair of North East Local Partnership Enterprise, who officially opened the new Smart Work Centre last Wednesday, said the Wooler project demonstrated the importance of connectivity, providing somewhere businesses could meet to exchange and develop ideas while working alongside the community.

He said: “I’m delighted to be involved in the launch of the Wooler Smart Work Centre.”

“This represents a great example of strong partnership working to meet existing business demand and also generate further demand.”
