A WIDE range of woodland management courses will be on offer next month.
A one-day woodland management course in Blagdon will be the perfect introduction to the silviculture or management of broad leaf and coniferous trees.
Participants who could be eligible for 70 per cent funding from Lantra, on behalf of One North East, which is managed by the LandSkills North East project, will learn the basics of establishing a wood, choosing the right composition of trees and maintaining its long-term quality and health.
A second one-day course on basic tree surveying is specifically designed for those who look after forests and woodlands in public places.
The courses are being offered by Northwoods with the help of funding from LandSkills North East.
Managed by Rural Development Initiatives Ltd, Northwoods offers training and support to all those working in the woods or with their end products.
The full programme of courses, which start from £30, includes introductory and intermediate level chainsaw training, tree climbing, first aid and chipper operation.
