A NEW charter has been launched to try to improve farm safety.
The Country Land and Business Association has joined other industry groups to present the Farm Safety Charter, providing practical advice, training and guidance on making agricultural work safer.
Agriculture is statistically the most dangerous industry in the country, with 455 deaths on British farms in the past 10 years.
CLA president William Worsley said: “This charter is important because we now have a mandate to bring about a real change in the culture, attitude and behaviour towards farm safety.
“We are committed to raising awareness of the risks and dangers that affect people working in what are often difficult and unpredictable situations.”
