A range of special offers will be available this weekend as a number of independent traders in Alnwick take part in Small Business Saturday.
The campaign is designed to encourage people to shop locally and support independent businesses. Last year, we reported that traders had hailed the first Small Business Saturday (SBS) in the UK as a success, but wanted to build on it.
This year, the following offers will be available in town:
Scotts of Alnwick – 10 per cent off all lined sweaters, £10 off many items;
Penrose’s – all stock 10 per cent off;
Proudlock House & Home – free mulled wine and biscuits, £10 gift voucher with sales of £100 or more;
Northumbria Pets – 10 per cent off all dog coats, savings on corn snakes with full set-up;
Bell & Sons – extra 10 per cent off all Henry Lloyd menswear, spend over £100 and receive a free Henry Lloyd washbag;
Mojo – World Wildlife Fund-approved tiger and polar bear for £6.99;
Conroy Jewellers – goodie bags with purchases of £50 or more, gift with purchase over £100, refreshments, free gift wrap; Carlo’s – free hot drink with every meal;
Outcook – buy a cooking voucher, get one free;
Hotspur 1364 – free bottle of Stella and 10 per cent off;
Woody’s – 10 per cent off all games, buy two get third free on DVDs;
The Emporium – complimentary prosecco and 10 per cent off;
Regram Runway – 10 per cent off everything;
Sportsworld – 10 per cent off all socks;
Di Sopra – special deals until 6pm;
Flowers by Julie – free delivery on orders placed for delivery in December;
PD Quick – gifts if you spend over £10, £30 or £100, frame free with up to 8x6 prints, 8x10 and larger half-priced and framed;
Melvyn’s – free ice cream with kids’ meals, free hot drinks top-ups;
Copperfields – free hot drinks with every meal;
Nood – free tea/coffee with every meal/cake purchase before 11am, free side dish with main meals at lunchtime, smoothies £2.
Alnwick’s Christmas Market tomorrow will include a children’s street procession led the Barnacre Alpacas. There will also be seasonal music from the Salvation Army, the Christians Together Carol Singers and the Alnwick Playhouse Concert Band. Markets manager Dawn Watts said: “Our annual Christmas Market is very popular with traders. We have been fully booked for some time.”
