New job sees Nikki go back to her roots

Leading livestock feed company Northumbrian Quality Feeds has a appointed a sales and feed adviser to work with livestock farmers across Northumberland and the Borders.

And it means a return to her roots for Nikki Gilbertson, who was born at Easington Farm, Belford, from where the business operates.

Livestock farmers Stuart and Wendy Hyslop founded Northumbrian Quality Feeds in 2007. It produces both conventional and organic ranges of nuts, rolls, pellets, mixtures and blends.

Nikki, 26, is from a farming background and is dedicated to the countryside and agricultural industry. She has completed lambings and shepherd work from an early age, and has recently started showing sheep.

She said: “In my new position with Northumbrian Quality Feeds, my aim is to help farmers and to see their livestock perform and improve. This is a job which for me brings with it the ultimate job satisfaction. Having a farmer tell you a job is well done is high praise indeed.”

Nikki will work closely alongside general manager John Naylor.

He said: “Nikki brings with her wide experience and in this field-based, customer-focused position, she will support and advise livestock farmers with a complete advisory package.”

“These are challenging times for livestock farmers, so it is more important than ever to look at both financial and nutritional efficiencies. Nikki will help us to continue to grow the business and build on the high levels of service and support we provide.”
