New chefs bring boost for No 16

Two new chefs have joined the team at a Warkworth restaurant to give the business a boost.

Sandy Thomas and her sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Eric Collins, took over the Warkworth House Hotel nearly two years ago.

They have spent the last 24 months renovating and refurbishing the bedrooms at the hotel. But now they have brought in two new chefs and hope they can give the restaurant, No 16, a boost.

Sandy said: “When we took over, the hotel had gone into receivership and the rooms had been quite neglected. We have put a lot of our own money into the bedrooms and now we need to start on the communal rooms. But we managed to get these two chefs. We pushed the boat out to find someone good in the area and they have brought back the enthusiasm for the restaurant.”

Joshua Bell and Stuart Keay have been with the hotel for over two weeks now and have brought ‘fresh energy into the place’.

They both previously worked at the Treehouse Restaurant at The Alnwick Garden.

Sandy added: “We are trying to build up the support for the restaurant as much as we possibly can to get it off the ground.

“Joshua and Stuart are very ambitious lads, they have some wonderful ideas and they basically want to make a name for themselves and bring the restaurant up to scratch.

“At the moment, not many people know about the restaurant, we want to change that.

“When we interviewed them and gave them the job, we thought they would be good, but in just two weeks, we have realised that they have got some brilliant ideas. It’s very exciting and we feel we want to support them as much as we can.”

The No 16 Restaurant at Warkworth House Hotel serves food from 6.30pm with last orders at 8.30pm. Contact 01665 711276.
