An award-winning ice-cream parlour in a seaside town has been rated the UK’s best after tickling the taste buds of punters.
Spurreli, in Amble, has scooped top place thanks to glowing customer feedback left on travel website, TripAdvisor.
The venue, located on Coquet Street, has a five-star rating from 204 reviews.
Success this time round is an improvement on last year’s results, when Spurreli was ranked fourth in TripAdvisor’s 10 best-rated ice-cream parlours in the UK .
Owner Nick Spurr said: “We are so thrilled that our ice-cream parlour has been named the UK’s best-rated.
“Thanks to our customers for the great feedback.”
Spurreli has certainly received some cool reviews from punters, with one describing its ice-cream as the best.
Another TripAdvisor traveller said: “I have visited Italy for the last 17 years and have to say the ice-cream here is just as good as any Gelateria in Rome or Venice.”
Spurreli has also been praised for its friendly staff and diverse choice of flavours.
One reviewer said: “It has great ice-cream with very alternate and fantastic flavours, like bubblegum, liquorice and blackcurrant, sticky toffee pudding and Ferrero Rocher.”
The TripAdvisor top 10- list is based on the reviews and opinions of TripAdvisor travellers, taking into account the quality, quantity and ratio of reviews mentioning ice-cream, as well as overall reviews for the establishment.
In second place was Di Polas, in East Sussex, while Mr B’s Ice-cream Parlour, in Cornwall was third.
The others in the top 10 were Notarianni Ices (Blackpool), Giggi Gelateria (Bournemouth), Mary’s Milk Bar (Edinburgh), Palas Caffi (Caernarfon, Wales), Joe’s (Swansea), Moomaid of Zennor (Cornwall) and Red Boat Ice-cream Parlour (Beaumaris, Wales).
